Illini Lodge hosted the Section C-4B Conclave at Camp Drake in 1996 for the three Illinois and three Indiana lodges. The theme of the conclave was “By Inspiration Lead Them” with an emphasis on leadership skills throughout the weekend. Friday evening events at the conclave included the crackerbarrel, and a movie in the dining hall in addition to registration and a COC meeting. Saturday morning, educations seminars on OA topics were held. The normal conclave afternoon competitions followed with Ceremonies, sports, and trivia pursuit. Illini Lodge crushed the Woapink Lodge in Lodgeball.
The traditional Camp Drake Section Conclave Dinner Show created a jazzy atmosphere with a live band soothing the hungry arrowman. The dining hall had been transformed into a swanky concert hall, with waiters serving large portions of chicken, ribs, and spaghetti. The evening festivities included the closing campfire in which awards were presented and chiefly speeches were conducted. The conclave concluded with the COC in which the new section officers were elected.
2003 Section Conclave
Illini Lodge hosted the Section C-4B Conclave at Camp Drake in 2003. It was the first time in 7 years that Illini Lodge had hosted a conclave and the 2003 C-4B conclave was the largest attended conclave in the Central Region that year. The theme of the conclave was “Upon a Lofty Journey” with an emphasis on travel throughout the weekend.
Friday evening events at the conclave included the glow stick games, night kayaking, and a movie in the dining hall in addition to registration and a COC meeting. Saturday morning we advanced through time with the “train”ings.
Saturday’s lunch featured what most considered the highlight of the weekend with the “Big Rig” truck races. The normal conclave afternoon competitions followed in addition to the “car”nival games by Illini Lodge including the smashing of a car. Illini Lodge crushed the Woapink Lodge in Lodgeball. Saturday evening we took to the air for the spectacular dinner show in which the dining hall was transformed into an airplane complete with a security check-in. The evening festivities included the closing campfire in which awards were presented and was followed with the hot-air balloon and the live band, 9-Fifty, at the Plateau Party.
Bright and early Sunday morning was the Vigil Rededication. As we advanced through time on Sunday morning, we took to the stars for gigantic interplanetary pancakes. The conclave concluded with the COC in which the new section officers were elected and Illini Lodge was presented with the Marty Zvonar Paddle as the recipient of the Marty Zvonar Spirit Award.
2008 Section Conclave
Illini Lodge hosted the Section C-3C Conclave at Camp Drake in 2008. It was the first time in 5 years that Illini Lodge had hosted a conclave and the first in the new section of the Six Links Section. The theme of the conclave was “Under the Sea” with an emphasis on aquatics events throughout the weekend.
Friday evening events at the conclave included a crackerbarrel, night swim, and a movie in the dining hall in addition to registration and a COC meeting. On Saturday morning, National Vice Chief Ben Stillwell highlighted the trainers, as arrow education provided leadership lessons. The normal conclave afternoon competitions followed in addition to the SCUBA diving at the pool. Illini Lodge crushed the Woapink Lodge in Lodgeball. For Saturday evening, conclavers took to the underwater world for the spectacular dinner show in which the dining hall was transformed into a sunken ship complete with live fish. The evening festivities included the closing campfire in which Section Coordinator Ian Chen presented awards. The conclave concluded with the COC in which the new section officers were elected and Wenasa Quenhotan Lodge was presented with the Marty Zvonar Spirit Award.
