Friday Night Cracker Barrel:
Crew 235 will be hosting a cracker barrel on Friday for all units camping out that evening. The popcorn will be hot and ready at 8:00 pm at the Training Center! All units camping on Friday evening are invited to attend.
It looks like the temperature will be in the upper 30's and lower 40's on Saturday. Although there won't be snow on the ground, we are expecting a LOT of mud. Please bring sturdy shoes (i.e. boots, not tennis shoes), multiple layers, and clothing appropriate for the temperature. Also remember that you can make traveling between activities much easier by adding wheels to your sleds. Wheels may be used at all times other than the Great Sled Race.
Units may begin checking-in at the Trading Post/Office at 7:30 am on Saturday. We highly encourage units camping on Friday night to check-in earlier than later. All Scouts are required to be present at check-in with all of their clothing/gear for the event and will be checked by our medical personnel to ensure their clothing/gear is appropriate for the day. Leaders will need to ensure copies of each participant's Medical Forms A and B are with them, however they will not turn those in to the event medical staff. To complete check-in, Scouts will need to be divided into patrols of no more than 8 per patrol, have a patrol name, and any additional funds due will be collected prior to participation. Scouts and units who have not previously registered may still register and pay onsite at a cost of $15/person.
Adult Leader Activities:
Adult leaders will not accompany their patrols during the day other than lunch. The Training Center will be the center for adult activities. The morning will include a couple of training opportunities including: Youth Protection and Hazardous Weather. After the training sessions, there will be an adult leader open forum. There are many new leaders and this will be a great opportunity for veteran leaders to share stories and advice they have learned through the years on a variety of topics. Newer leaders will also have an opportunity to share ideas that veteran leaders might want to try. This forum will be moderated by a member of the Training Committee.
Most parking will be in the main Camp Drake parking lot with overflow parking at the Shooting Sports parking lot. One vehicle and one trailer will be allowed to be driven back to each campsite, however the vehicle must either be immediately moved back to the parking lot (after unloading) or may not be moved until after 4:00 pm on Saturday. The road to the campsites will be locked during the day on Saturday and will not be opened for any vehicles as activities will be occurring on the road.
