Poncho Pond

Set sail for adventure at Poncho Pond, an aquatic paradise located just across the swinging bridge at the northern edge of camp. This serene and picturesque waterway is the heart of our boating and fishing activities, offering Scouts a chance to immerse themselves in a world of water-based exploration and skill-building.

Poncho Pond is not just about enjoying the tranquility of the water; it's a center for learning and mastering a variety of aquatic disciplines. Scouts have the opportunity to embark on exciting canoe hikes, glide through the water in rowboats, experience the thrill of whitewater adventures, and navigate the pond's gentle waves in canoes and kayaks. For those looking to catch the breeze, our sailing program offers the perfect blend of challenge and enjoyment. Additionally, stand-up paddleboarding offers a unique and engaging way to traverse the pond's surface.

Our comprehensive Paddle Craft Safety program ensures that all Scouts develop a strong foundation in water safety and handling skills, essential for any water enthusiast. Open boating sessions provide a time for Scouts to practice their skills or simply enjoy a leisurely paddle around the pond.

The newly created fishing trail allows easier access to the pond, inviting Scouts to cast their lines and relax in the beauty of nature. All merit badge instruction and activities commence at the Mayfield Shelter, positioned at the center of all the action, making it a convenient meeting point for all our aquatic adventurers.

Poncho Pond is more than just a program area; it's a gateway to new experiences and a place where every Scout can find something that floats their boat. Join us at Poncho Pond for a splash of fun and a wave of learning!
